Effective Detox Salad ni Tita Becky

Dressing (good for 3-4 servings):

For every one (1) tablespoon vinegar (advisable to use is Bragg’s organic apple cider vinegar, and shake bottle well before pouring), add three (3) tablespoons water. Mix the following into this (stir until salt is no longer solid):

– one (1) clove of garlic, freshly crushed

– a pinch of fine salt (konting konti lang, masama maalat sa katawan; iodized ang gamit ko, good for warding off goiter)

– a dash of freshly crushed black pepper (around ¼ tsp lang; pwede1 tsp kung gusto mo ng maanghang)

To bind this mixture, add two (2) tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (evoo) or virgin coconut oil (vco), make sure that this is the one without additional flavor.

IYAN ang gagamitin mong dressing for a variety of vegetable combinations na. My family’s particular favourites are all (or a combination of any) of the following:

1. Lettuce leaves (litsugas), iba’t ibang klase ito, meron nung parang pechay ang itsura na pula, merong murang berde na kulot-kulot ang leaves, meron nung parang repolyo, meron nung inilalagay natin sa lumpiang sariwa;

2. Cucumbers (pipino), masarap ‘yung bata pa na wala pa halos buto. DON’T PEAL. Masarap ‘yung malutong na balat, and it’s also good for metabolism, basta ngunguyain mo maigi bago lulunin;

3. Green tomatoes (kamatis na hilaw), any variety pwede basta berde. masarap ‘yung variety na makapal ang flesh at konti lang ang buto, kase kailangang ALISIN ANG BUTO (hindi ito natutunaw ng digestive system natin) at itira lang ang juicy flesh, hiwain lang into 4 kung maliliit, or into 8 kung malaki-laki;

4. Shallot or red onion (sibuyas na pula), masarap ito kase manamis-namis (at mas matagal ang shelf life) kesa sa yellow/white variety, hiwain lang into 4 kung maliliit, or into 8 kung malaki-laki, then kalas-kalasin;

5. Red bell pepper (siling pare/paraka), ito ‘yung papasok ang pwet, hindi ‘yung patulis, hiwa-hiwain lang na kasinlalaki ng sibuyas/kamatis/pipino;

6. Steamed chicken breast (pitso ng manok, hindi kasama balat), dice n’yo ito nang bite-size lang; kung wala nito, pwede Tuna chunks, ‘yung firm, para hindi madurog-durog; at huwag isasama ang pinagbabarang sabaw in can, kase me preservatives ‘yun na toxic/masama ma-accumulate sa katawan; ang pinakamainam kung fish e ‘yung FRESHLY STEAMED na tunang bibilhin sa market, just make sure na sariwa;

7. Steamed shrimps, optional (hipong SWAHE ang masarap dito), pero kahit anong variety ng shrimps, pwede basta FRESH, hindi ‘yung nakakalas na ang head from the body;

8. Water chestnut, optional (apulid), gusto ni mar ito para me additional na malutong with every bite, pero bihira akong makakita nito. Puwedeng substitute roasted CASHEW nuts. HUWAG peanuts (mani), masama raw ang oil nito sa katawan natin.

9. Green apples, optional (berdeng apples), good for metabolism and anti-oxidant din ito; tanggalin ang gitna/buto and dice to bite-size lang din.

Masarap lahat ito, hugasan lang munang maigi lahat para ma-wash out nang kahit konti ang chemical pesticides na naroon, kung meron man.

At the start of the day, you may pre-cut/dice all the vegetable ingredient, put in a bowl and cover with aluminum foil and chill in the ref; the dressing can also be prepared beforehand, and kept in a tightly capped bottle. This way, anytime during the day that you feel like having fresh vegetable salad e you’ll have it pre-chilled!

10. Kung minsan, my husband prefers his salad to have green mangoes, optional; kapag meron nito, hindi na niya nilalagyan ng dressing concoction na nasa itaas – nilalagyan lang niya ng binding na konting konti lang na salt and 2 tablespoons ng extra virgin olive oil or virgin coconut oil.

HAPPY HEALTHY EATING, EVERYONE! <3333 viewed sideways, these are four hearts of my family to all of you! 🙂
